Mitzi

Mitz is my slowest dog. She is also hard headed and tough as they come, though you wouldn’t know by watching her in the play yard. For play time, I divide the dogs into two groups, the play dogs and the serious studs. Mitzi is queen of the play dogs. If there’s a scrum, Mitz is usually in the middle. This coming season is the sixth during which I’ve run Mitz in lead. Early in her career as a leader, I remember taking the team off into about two thirds of a foot of fresh powder on top of a good base. Mitzi was leading with Gonja. Gonja didn’t seem to have a clue, but Mitz led through and did a great job of finding the best footing in the snow. I swear she also gave me the finger as we headed down the trail. Along with the hard head and toughness, she’s also one of the brightest dogs in the kennel. And like her brother Tok, she’s a bit of a clown.
